After School Club

Scenario: (Developed by Ms Shafi)

This After School Project is outcome driven. You will be assessed on the quality of the products (publications) you produce. Fitness for audience and purpose are very important. Key questions to ask yourselves are:

• What type of publication?
• Who is the target audience?
• Why do I need this publication?
• Where will it be viewed and with which format?
• What are my expectations?
• What do I need to produce this publication?

You will have 30 hours to complete this project. (Don't forget that this is including your homework timetable.)

This is what you will be doing:

Imagine you have been given the task of setting up and opening an after school club. It will be here at Rokeby School and needs to cater for KS3 and KS4 students

Remember Rokeby has a range of cultures and diversity within the school and you need to take in to account the different needs of all the students.

You will need to think about the number of staff you need and where in the school the club will take place.

You can also read this story to know how it would help you to gain a greater understanding of the different stages of this project.

Here is how you re going to do it:

·         Plan how you will complete this project

·         Decide what will the club will be about and research in it

·         Write a proposal to the Head teacher outlining your ideas

·         Create a logo for your after school club

·         Create a questionnaire and gather information from other Rokeby students and teachers about what they would like to see

·         Design a database structure to store information about other after school clubs

·         Create an advert promoting the club

·         Create a newsletter giving information about the club

·         Create an e-portfolio to present all the work you have done

·         Review the project

Make sure you read and understand the whole scenario before you start
